Product recalls
We require our suppliers to conduct product testing and quality checks, as do our dedicated in-house divisional teams, prior to sale of products.
If a product is found to be faulty and there is a risk it may cause injury, our divisions conduct recalls in line with ACCC guidelines. During the year, there were five own-brand product recalls, supporting customer confidence and safety.
Information about the product recalls conducted during the 2024 financial year is provided below.
WIS
The Industrial and Safety division is committed to providing customers with safe products and had no own-brand product recalls in 2024.
Health
Wesfarmers Health takes product safety seriously and initiates recalls when products are found to be faulty or there is a risk a product may cause injury or illness. Therapeutic goods recalls are initiated by the relevant supplier/manufacturer in consultation with the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) upon identification of issues or deficiencies pertaining to product safety, quality or efficacy. There are three categories of therapeutic goods recall that may impact Wesfarmers Health:
- Wholesale – affecting wholesalers exclusively
- Retail – impacting both wholesalers and retail outlets
- Consumer – involving wholesalers, retail outlets, and consumers.
