Shane Warne Legacy Heart Test
During
the 2023 Boxing Day Test held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), the Shane
Warne Legacy (SWL) was
launched in honour of Shane Warne and the legacy he leaves.
The
SWL selected SiSU Health as their partner to deliver the ‘Shane Warne Legacy Heart Test’.
Twenty
three medical grade SiSU Health Stations were set up for the first four days of
the Boxing Day Test match.
As
a majority owner of SiSU Health in the 2024 financial year, Wesfarmers Health
supported the initiative by offering volunteer leave to its team members who
wished to assist patrons taking a SWL Heart Test.
At
various locations around the MCG, patrons were provided with the opportunity to
do a free 4-minute cardiovascular health check which considered factors such as
blood pressure, heart rate, smoking, body mass index (BMI), diabetes risk,
diabetes status and more to help identify people who could subsequently benefit
from a GP-led heart health check.
Across
the four day initiative, over 7,000 cricket fans completed the SWL Heart Test
and contributed to the SWL goal of performing 500,000 checks in its first year.
As a result of the SWL program, 106 individuals were advised to consult their
GP within 24-72 hours of their health check due to a severe blood pressure
reading i.e. ≥180 mmHg systolic / ≥110mmHg diastolic.
