External participation

Wesfarmers works with external organisations and initiatives that promote transparent reporting of non-financial metrics and to complement and extend our own reporting in a meaningful way, that is in the public interest. Wesfarmers currently works with several external organisations and applies several reporting frameworks, including:

Wesfarmers chooses to complete the Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) that is managed by S&P Global. Based on the assessment, Wesfarmers Limited is given a S&P ESG score, and from this Wesfarmers was included in the Sustainability Yearbook 2023. Wesfarmers was one of 708 global companies included, one of only 15 retail companies and one of 25 Australian Sustainability Yearbook members. Receiving one of the top global ESG scores also saw Wesfarmers maintain inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI).

Wesfarmers joined the Australian Government’s Tax Transparency initiative and became a signatory to the register of entities committing to lodge a Tax Transparency Report, publishing our first report in December 2016. In December 2022, we released our annual 2022 Tax Contribution Report, which provides stakeholders with the necessary information concerning Wesfarmers' Australian tax activities for the 2022 financial year. The 2023 tax contribution report will be released in December 2023.

Wesfarmers was a member of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) since 2010. However, with our current focus on direct disclosures to stakeholders, Wesfarmers has opted not to participate in the CDP and focus efforts on streamlining reporting processes and publicly disclosing climate risk related information in alignment with the Taskforce for Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). Wesfarmers believes this approach provides interested parties with consistent and timely information.
