Industrial and Safety - Community contributions
Being a good corporate citizen and supporting the local community is a high priority for the Industrial and Safety division. Each business unit has worked hard to establish strong local relationships and has a number of long-term partnerships supporting a range of causes.
The recorded community contributions for the year totalled $0.84 million. Direct contributions, including stock and financial donations, corporate sponsorship, and volunteering, accounted for $0.8 million. Indirect contributions, including workplace giving and customer donations, totalled $0.04 million. COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions impacted teams volunteering in the community and many community events. In addition to its ongoing partnerships, the division supported a range of community events, sponsored Indigenous students and donated COVID-19 products to the community, such as respirators and sanitisers.
Blackwoods continued its support of The Fred Hollows Foundation’s Indigenous Australia Program via the sale of its PROSAFE Eye Protection range of products, with over $2.7 million donated since the partnership’s inception in 2010 and just under $0.4 million given in the 2022 financial year.
Coregas supported the Royal Melbourne Hospital's intensive care unit.
Greencap continued to develop its partnership with Reflections, a not-for-profit organisation providing support and awareness to reduce the impacts of asbestos on the community. This included a range of fundraising events throughout the year and the inaugural Greencap National Asbestos Forum held during Asbestos Awareness month in November 2021. The event saw more than 250 attendees, with a presenting panel of representatives from state regulators, Australian Border Force, Reflections and Greencap. Greencap also funded a Reflections donation for every forum participant.
NZ Safety Blackwoods continued its KidsCan partnership, which helps New Zealand children affected by poverty. To date, more than $0.26 million has been donated through sales of Tredlite products.
Workwear Group donated a proportion of product sales to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, in addition to monetary donations to Rural Aid and R U OK? The business also commenced a three-year partnership with The Big Issue, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting and creating work opportunities for people experiencing homelessness, marginalisation and disadvantage.
