Kionah Howell loves her job at Officeworks in Shepparton Victoria, where she has been employed for the past 12 months.
Local employment broker The Kaiela Institute assisted in placing Kionah with Officeworks, and she hasn't looked back.
"I never really knew what I wanted to do, but now that I've started working here – and I love working here – possibly a manager's job in the future would be good," Kionah says.
Officeworks Shepparton Store Business Manager Paul Trewren and his team have worked with a number of local Indigenous agencies to secure employment opportunities for young people in the business. Over the past couple of years, three Indigenous team members have joined the store. Providing career development and leadership opportunities highlights the positive outcomes for the team members, but Paul says the work ethic of the whole team is fantastic.
"Their contribution is amazing and obviously the recent outstanding financial results of Officeworks are just part of what they've contributed to," he says.
