Seventh Chairman Sir Marcus Beeck 1983-1986

A Katanning farmer, Marcus Beeck was elected as a zone director in 1977, earned the respect of his colleagues for his integrity and fair mindedness. He became Chairman in 1983 after a closely contested vote with Harry Perkins and remained Chairman during, at times, tense internal discussions over Wesfarmers’ transition to a public company. He died of cancer in May, 1986.
