Fourth Chairman Thorley Loton 1953-1965

Deputy Chairman (Ernest) Thorley Loton became Chairman following the retirement of Walter Harper, Wesfarmers longest serving director. He carried on Wesfarmers’ reputation for fighting the farmers’ corner. Thorley Loton was a member of the Council of the Royal Agricultural Society of WA for 38 years and twice served as its president. He was knighted for his services to agriculture in 1965.
